This Privacy Policy explains how Aurora ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our vision board application ("the Service"). By using Aurora, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

• Account Information — When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.
• Your Content — We store the boards, images, text, and other content you create or upload, including images generated using our AI image generation feature.
• Usage Information — We collect information about how you interact with Aurora, such as features used and general activity, to help us improve the Service.
• Spotify Connection — If you choose to connect Spotify for music playback, we access your Spotify session only for the duration of your active session. We do not store your Spotify credentials.

3. Onboarding Preferences and Personalized Advertising

During onboarding, we may invite you to complete an optional preferences survey. Any information you provide is voluntary, and you may skip the survey or skip individual questions at any time.

• Preference Data We Collect (When Voluntarily Provided) — lifestyle goals, health and wellness intentions, financial aspirations, and personal preferences such as your dream home and vehicle, along with similar interest-based information.
• How We Use Preference Data — to personalize your experience, suggest relevant content in the Explore section, and deliver personalized communications.
• Advertising on the Free Tier — for users on the free tier, this preference data, together with general usage data, may be used to serve relevant third-party advertisements within the Aurora app.
• Your Choices — you can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your account settings, and you may skip or decline to provide preference data without losing access to the core features of Aurora.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve Aurora
• Save and sync your boards across devices
• Display public boards on the Explore page if you choose to make them public
• Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Use
• Process payments if you subscribe to a paid plan

5. Third-Party Services

Aurora relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — for account authentication, database storage, and file storage
• Google — for optional sign-in via Google OAuth
• Spotify — for optional music playback, session-based only
• AI Image Generation Provider — for processing text prompts to generate images when you use the AI Generate feature. Prompts and generated images are sent to this provider solely to fulfill your request.
• Payment Processor — for handling subscription payments, if you choose a paid plan
• Advertising Partners — for free tier users, third-party advertising partners may help us serve relevant ads within Aurora based on the preference and usage data described in Section 3. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time in account settings.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

6. Public Content

If you mark a board as public, its contents — including images, text, and your display name — become visible to other Aurora users on the Explore page. You can make a board private at any time, which removes it from Explore.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase's infrastructure with industry-standard security measures, including access controls that ensure only you can access your private boards. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

Aurora uses your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as music volume, mute settings, and whether you have seen certain onboarding tips. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time through Settings, including the preference data described in Section 3 and your personalized advertising choice. You may delete individual boards, images, or your entire account. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems, subject to any legal retention requirements.

10. Children's Privacy

Aurora is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

11. International Users

Aurora is operated from Canada. If you access the Service from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of Aurora after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
